According to Justin Ray of the 15th Club, the current Masters champion has reached sixth in the official World Golf Ranking.
Tiger Woods defeated Hideki Matsuyama with a three shot victory for the 82nd time in the zuzo Championship. With the win, Woods tied Sam Sned for the most tour titles of all time, which has been unparalleled for 54 years.
Healthy after his latest medical procedure, Woods earned his 82nd PGA Tour victory at the Ozuzo Championships in Japan on Monday. This tied the record for Sam Snead’s 54-year-old record of the most wins of all time on tour.
Woods, who played 29 holes Sunday, before the game was suspended due to darkness, finished the final seven holes on Monday . Friday’s second round was washed away by pouring rain at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club, about 35 miles east of Tokyo.
The 43-year-old led all four rounds to an end during an inaugural tour stop in Japan, which lasted five days due to the storm that erased Friday’s round. The Tiger ended the marathon week with a 67 in the final round to avoid chasing Matsuyama and leading after 54 holes on the PGA Tour.
“Five days is a long time at the top of the (leaderboard). It was definitely stressful,” Tiger said.
The win marks Woods’ selection for the President’s Cup, which will be played at Royal Melbourne in December. Woods, as U.S. captain, will make his choices in November.
